Top 5 First Dance Songs

I was watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on Netflix last night and there was plenty of wedding planning talk going on with the upcoming wedding on it. They are trying to plan a wedding in 2 weeks!! Crazy! But anyway, talk about first dance songs came up and right enough it’s the same songs as usual.  It’s one of my favourite parts of the whole day because whichever track is chosen by the newlyweds, it is a representation of them as a couple and it’s such a happy and romantic moment.  But I could probably count on one hand the different first dance songs I have heard. The first dance songs are always one of these 5 songs…

Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud

You won’t be surprised to see this man at the top of the list. Thinking Out Loud was a phenomenon of a song, spending a whole year inside the UK’s top 40. It can reduce even a macho man to tears and that’s saying something.

John Legend – All of Me

This is the modern day love song and took the UK by a storm when it was released. John Legend wrote this song about his fiancée Chrissy Teigen, and sung it to her during their nuptials – how romantic. Needless to say it worked for him.

Jack Johnson – Better Together

This song has a cute melody and was written for a special woman in Jack Johnson’s life. “It was really just a song that I wrote for my wife. The love songs always start out for her.”

Christina Perri – A Thousand Years

Twilight fans and loving couples everywhere will be able to appreciate the pure emotion that oozes from this song. I can completely see why so many loved-up pairs want to enter their new marriage to this particular track.

Etta James – At Last

This song is incredibly romantic and full of emotion. It was recorded all the way back in 1961 and is still one of the most popular wedding songs today. What an achievement to still be so popular in 2017.
